All right so I decided to give a try at
hot process soap. I always make cold process
or M&P soap. this time I wanted to be able
to use the soap right away, and not wait for 4-6 weeks.
So here was my experience with it. I do not like
all the waste of soap. I am a crafter/sewer,
and I'm sure just like the rest of you, every little
piece of material that I cut goes into a scrap bin,
same with when I am cutting my card stock, even if
it it a 2x3" strip, I still keep it in a card stock scrap drawer.
So while the soap is cooking in the crock pot,
the edges start sticking to the sides of the pot, and if
you incorporate this into the soft soap, then you will get
hard dry chunks in your soap.
Also, I like to swirl my soap, I just love cutting into
my cold process soap, just to see the pretty designs
and swirls. Well with hot process soap
the soap thickens so quickly that there is not chance of getting
a pretty swirly design.
I know with the hardend soap, you can make
dish soap, so I am giving that a try now with my first batch,
but it has almost been 24hrs. and it is not getting thicker, may
have added to much water to it.
So with the wasted soap, and not making the swirls, I think
that I will stick with cold process soaping. I will use the
hot process method only when I need some soap NOW.
This is a a Coconut Lime Verbena, it smells great,
just do not like the look of it. (I want my swirls)
Also the tops of the soaps are not a neon green like the picture shows them
Alright, that is all for now,
Until next time.
